Day 8 - Mother's Day

Yesterday was just a play day with Disco. We got to the ranch late around 4:30 and just took Disco out of his pen and walked him to the roundpen and put my horse Texas in there with him. Texas wouldn't even walk over to him until i had to take him to Disco. After they where together they started scratching each others backs, it was love at first bite! they itched each other for awhile until Disco decided that he wanted some more dirt to eat. Texas was confused and didn't know what he was eating and tried to steal whatever he thought it was out of his mouth, Disco finally got tired of Texas and bit him on his jaw Texas had to show him who was boss around here and pinned his ears at Disco. Disco apparently respected Texas and moved right away before Texas had a chance to bite him. Then we took Disco and Texas out and just let Disco graze and lead him around some. We only worked him a little when we first took him out to show him I was still in control of him. We walked him all over the ranch letting him graze and finding anything that might spook him... easier said than done. We couldn't find anything that would spook him until we where finally almost done and we where at the burn pile, nothing spooked him until we picked up a plastic bag and started waving it all around him. Guess he remembered it from the holding facility when the people there where sorting him out and making him run all over the place. It didn't take him long to figure it out and to stay still and relax. When we finished we took him back to his pen and put some coconut oil mixed with a little water into his main. He really LOVES to be groomed and to get attention.
