Girl Scouts!
Last week we had been asked to bring Disco and Texas to the girl scouts camp on Saturday (April 2) to give a 3 hour lesson to about 250 girls! We got there a little early to make sure the horses were going to be fine around all the cars, tents, tables, and everything. They were as calm as could be and really liked their grass! With the first group of girls, I talked to them for about half of our time, they mostly had questions about how to teach your horse to do something, so with that group we showed all the girls how to lead, back up, and kiss your horse! Disco also laid down for each group and everyone got to come and rub on him. When the second group came we spent the whole time teaching the about safety, horse care, hoof care, mustangs, training, and about any other questions they had. For the third group both the horses were pretty much asleep so they really didn't care what I did with them! When we gave the horses their feed all the girls laughed at how Disco was eating compared to Texas, Disco was flipping his bucket around and pawing at it until at was all on the ground and he finally stopped, and Texas was just standing next to him with his eyes closed taking little bites and eating over his bucket! :'D
all of the girl scouts wanted to load the horses up into the trailer when it was time to go, so we had to improvise and let two girls load up Texas and had three load Disco. It took awhile to get out of there because there were still girls in the trailer grooming them and others standing around the back looking at them. When we finally were driving off all the girls were yelling "Bye Disco, bye Texas!" and you could just tell Disco was happy that everyone knew his name!

Birthdays!
March 1st was Discos 3rd birthday! We stopped at a store on the way to the ranch and bought him a big carrot cake with some long carrots to use as candles! We got there and I groomed him for awhile then we brought out the cake, he was so funny picking through it! He'd grab a carrot off the top, drop it and start smacking his lips, then go down and eat it. When he got to the frosting he just flipped it all off to the side with his lip and sorta ate some of the cake before I gave the rest to archer. After that I just did a few tricks and rode him bareback the rest of the time. He's so comfortable to ride bareback now! When I first got him he was just skinny so it always felt like a was riding a toothpick, but now he just has the smoothest gates, he likes to sometimes prance when he is trotting but even when he does he back is just as smooth as ever! He is also very fun to run, I guess since he's a mustang he likes to save his energy, but when I ride him out on the trail he doesn't ever (knock on wood) zig zag around, he'll just follow a trail or go in a straight line. I am totally in love with this little Mustang!!!
I'll post some pictures soon!
March 5th was my dads birthday! We started the day with presents then my dad wanted to take a nap because him and my mom went surfing really early, we told him ok and not to sleep too long because we still all wanted to go to the beach together. Well........ he took a pretty long nap so we had to rush to the beach, caught about 4 waves then me, my mom, and brother all went to the beach and stood there waiting for my dad to come in also, he came in and didn't know why we were leaving and was kinda sad. But we all went home and got ready to go to the ranch as fast as we could. (we left at 1:00 and had a surprise party planned at the ranch for 2:00 and we still had to go buy the cake!) Luckily it was 2:00 when we got their so we weren't late! My dad was kinda upset that we left the beach but slowly people started showing up and he figured it out and was excited :D It was a really fun day, when my dad wend to take a picture with his birthday cake, he held it up and Comanche came and stuck his nose in to have a big piece! Ranger also got to enjoy a ton of cake and by the end of the day, the horses all had blue lips!

Allison and Chico
We went to visit my grandparents on February 3rd and on the 6th I got to go see Allison and Chico at their ranch in Jackson Missouri! It was super cool! When we got there she showed me around her house, and of course there were Chico's ribbons and costume in her room! ;P
We didn't waste any time going to halter up Chico and take him over to her arena. She showed me a bunch of her liberty work with him and even let me and my mom try some with him!
(he's getting real good at the liberty spin!)
After working with Chico we went to saddle up the other horses.
(she borrowed her friends horse so we could both ride)
We started out our ride with a lot of circling and bending around one of the pastures to get both horses soft, then went and rode around the back pastures and just ran all over the place casing each others tails! It was way the best time I ever had riding with a friend!
I don't think we ever stopped talking the whole time I was there!
Her dog was just like a huge version of our dog Archer!

BLM Adoption
Last Friday we took Disco to the BLM Adoption in Mercedes. We had been planning to go for a few weeks and were getting all our stuff ready until it was finally time! We loaded Disco up around 9:00 and got to the RGV Arena at 10:30. We wanted to be early so we could set up out table and warm up Disco before everyone got there... But there was already a line! I was surprised how many people were there, because last year there were hardly any! Disco made a lot of human friends but in the beginning not many mustangs liked him.... When he would go up to the fences the mustangs would just stay on the other side and look away. then finally some go loaded into a trailer and he went to say hay... Then the other mustang bit him in the nose! Poor Disco was so sad :'C But after awhile he made friends with some of them and was just as happy as could be! :D He was super good about letting little kids come up and rub on him, and since we were there for like 8 hours I laid on him bareback a lot! We talked to a lot of people and he did have a few who wanted to adopt him also. :) Since this last one was so fun, we are taking him to the one in Robstown TX on March 4th at the R.M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds!

Merry Christmas!
Meet Ranger the newest member of the family!
My brother has always wanted a donkey, so when I heard from Taren that she had just gotten a miniature donkey from Claire we asked her if she had any more left and she did! We drove up to Corpus on Christmas Eve morning (3:30 morning...) and had to stop at the ranch to pick up the trailer before heading out. We got there around 9:30 to pick him up, he is the sweetest little thing ever! It was pretty funny trying to get him into the trailer because he doesn't lead yet so that little bitty guy was dragging everyone all over the place! When we finally got him to the trailer he would NOT go in so Claire finally picked up hid front end and put him into the trailer. When we got him to the ranch I don't think he could care less about being in a new place! He just walked around his new little home (we had him in the mustang pen for the first day and let him out with the herd the next morning) and started eating and coming up to us for some attention. :) When we let him out with the horses one at a time they were all a little curious about the new runt and my horse Texas instantly partnered up with him! He's so cute! I can't believe how sweet he is, and the thing i really did not expect is that him and Archer are besties!
BFFS!
Getting to know his big brothers!
Welcome to your new home!
Ranger: Ya no ill just take the treat and SCAT!
